Simmer Pot Recipes

I’ve had the fall bug for a few weeks now, which usually means I start craving things like pumpkin, cinnamon and cranberries. The leaves have started to fall and the heat has already been turned on! That means stuffy, dry air. The perfect solution is a nice simmering pot of potpourri! My favorite holiday scent is cinnamon so a simmer pot of cranberries, oranges and cinnamon sticks is right up my alley. I have a small electric simmer pot but I like to use a small saucepan on the stove more. It seems to throw off more scent that way. There are so many variations you can do with this but if you want to copy mine, just use small amounts of fresh orange slices, a handful of cranberries sliced in half, and a cinnamon stick. Mix in dried whole cloves, a shake or two of ground nutmeg and some bay leaves. You can use just water for the liquid but in the fall why not use some apple cider? To throw off more of a scent I added a few drops of cinnamon and pine essential oils. Just be careful not to let the liquid run dry.
